Old Bones Bourbon Batch 2
Old Bones Bourbon Batch 2
55% ABV/110 Proof
10 YO, Distilled Feb. 2006, Bottled Apr. 2016 at MGP
Eye: Cognac with a light orange hue. Medium rims and syrupy legs.
Nose: Smells wine finished with plenty of grape must and vine fruit. Barrel char and caramel come afterwards with an acetone note.
Palate: Wine and chocolate. Heat on the tongue leads to a great, controlled nuttiness, like an elevated and liquidized PB&J. Chew opens the orchard fruits and strawberries. The heat is perfect - it elevates the flavors without covering them up. Mouthfeel is coating, oily, and medium-bodied.
Finish: Lots of plum and strawberry, medium length with a hit of chocolate sauce at the end.
Overall: This gets better with each sip. Complex, fruity, nutty, delicious. I loved this. Nose needs a few minutes to open up then it equals the palate and finish.
