Three Chord Bourbon Backstage Series Legacy Edition - Eat A Peach (2025)

From the brand - my tasting notes below.

The Allman Brothers Band Legacy Edition bourbon is a bold Southern blend, just like the band that inspired it. This is a unique mix of 9-year Kentucky bourbon and 11-year whiskey from Tennessee, blended and finished in peach brandy barrels from George Washington’s historic Mount Vernon Distillery. This process results in a rich, full-bodied whiskey with deep oak, caramel, and a hint of ripe stone fruit. Smooth yet powerful at 107 proof, this bourbon plays like an Allman Brothers Band jam—layered, soulful, and built to last. Sip it neat, and let the legacy live on.

For my inaugural Whiskey Fling, I bring you Three Chord Bourbon Backstage Series Legacy Edition (2025), celebrating the 53rd anniversary of the Allman Brothers’ Eat A Peach album.

I won’t lie - I don’t know much Allman Brothers beyond the hits, and I can hear the sound of my friend Kevin Rose’s hand coming to smack me upside the head for that. So, I’m just going on the details and the name here.

Reminiscent of peaches? Absolutely. This is the closest I’ve gotten to trying the Mt. Vernon Peach Brandy, and I want more.

The bottom line?

The price is tough to swallow. Fans who know the brand and love the Allman Brothers will pay for it, gladly. I don’t know how much it cost to incorporate the Mt. Vernon Peach Brandy casks (and again, I love the flavor they brought), but still it’ll be rough for the wallet.

This is a solid product, a 7.1/10. See if you can grab a taste first, though, unless you’re that big a fan that it doesn’t matter to you.

Thank you to Three Chord Bourbon for the sample and opportunity to review. All opinions are my own.

Three Chord Bourbon Backstage Series Legacy Edition - Eat A Peach (2025): Tasting Notes

Eye: Amber, slight haze. Thin variegated rims, syrupy legs and droplets.

Nose: The peach brandy comes out immediately, fresh and sweet flesh with a bit of the bitter flesh surrounding the stone. Mild proof. Orchard fruit forward bourbon underneath, slight minerality, plums, a stone fruit salad in its own syrup.

Palate: The American whiskey comes out more clearly, bourbon and bourbon mash leaning into the stone fruits. Mildly astringent on the back half of my tongue, liquid settles mid-to-back. Necco wafers or Smarties candies, candy dust. Mouthfeel is light-to–medium bodied, a bit piquant, front of my tongue starting to light up. Peach brandy loud and clear throughout.

Finish: Some dark chocolate emerges alongside cascara fruits, still a mild astringency that doesn’t detract or lessen. The peach is coating and eventually hits all parts of the tongue. Medium length.

Overall: The balance is there, and I love the peach brandy inclusion. It all fits the label, yet I feel like there is more for this to give, not necessarily in proof but in raw flavor power. Wondering if it was proofed down too quickly. The price point will be hard to swallow, though fans will undoubtedly buy at this proof and enjoy it.
