Glenfarclas 21 YO
Glenfarclas 21 YO
Highland
43% ABV, 86 Proof
Eye: Burnished gold. Medium rim and syrupy legs.
Nose: Dried fruit leaning towards dark fruit. Sweet, but has a dark unctuous note behind it that’s in the area where dark sweetness turns almost savory. No hint of alcohol.
Palate: Ooh - lots of grapes here. Fresh green grape acidity. Some tannic burn like a heavy, aged white wine. A medium-heft mouthfeel but not very smooth.
Finish: Short-to-medium length, white wine acidity.
Overall: Love the nose. The palate is fine, but I was expecting more from it, especially on the mouthfeel. Also surprised at the tannic acidity at this age rather than more of that fantastic nose.
