Wigle Port Rye

Pittsburgh Distilling Co.

Distillery Exclusive

46% ABV/92 Proof

Port-finished

Bottle 597/844

Eye: Dark-red amber. Medium rim and syrupy legs.

Nose: Super sweet, lots of dried dark fruits like figs and dates. No hint of proof. Deeper sniff reveals some herbal rye notes in the background.

Palate: More rye-forward than the nose, bready and slightly drying on the tongue. Almost no port flavor on the first sip. Second sip gives a bit of the port but nothing like the nose. Mouthfeel is filling but not coating.

Finish: Fruity, but the rye remains the star. Long.

Overall: What a difference between nose and palate - nose is all port, palate all rye. Finish attempts to bridge the two but just misses the mark. A nice, unique sipper.
