Larceny Barrel Proof A120
Larceny Barrel Proof A120
Heaven Hill Wheated Mashbill (68% corn, 20% wheat, 12% malted barley)
61.6% ABV/123.2 Proof
NAS, Reportedly 6-8 YO
Eye: Light amber. No rims, just droplets all over the Glencairn.
Nose: Definitely a wheater. Chocolate, red fruit, and a pleasant heat. Dark chocolate oranges.
Palate: Warm, spiced bourbon. An unctuous note I get from wheaters that adds body. Nice buttery nuttiness with a tingly palate. Mouthfeel is coating and oaky - here’s where things start going downhill.
Finish: Banana runts, mustiness, and vanilla, but ultimately not cohesive.
Overall: This feels like a first-stab…it’s ok, hits the wheater notes, but it’s not something I’ll spend the money on quite yet. Maybe B520 will be better?
Rating: 4.7
