Bourbon Heritage Month 2020 Day 28: Joseph Magnus Private Selection “It’s Almost Too Easy”
Joseph Magnus Private Selection “It’s Almost Too Easy"
Picked by Bourbon Pursuit and Keg ’n Bottle
MGP-Sourced
53% ABV/106 Proof
13 YO, Distilled 5/20/2006
Cask 1322, Bottle 17/150
Eye: Maple syrup, thin rim holds with thin syrupy legs.
Nose: Yeasty vanilla, like going into a bakery. Banana cream pie, warm clove is very clear. Smells like pastry with red berries after some air.
Palate: A little hot on the tongue, but very coating. Plums and dark fruit, very rich and sweet after the heat dies down. Mild clove-led baking spices in the background. Mouthfeel is coating and moderate-weight.
Finish: Long and super fruity.
Overall: The clove doesn’t follow through as much as I’d like but overall it’s still a delicious expression of older MGP bourbon. Lots of stone fruits and pie crust - how could you go wrong?
