Bourbon Heritage Month 2020 Day 17: 1792 Full Proof “TKO” Bourbon Pursuit Pick
1792 Full Proof Bourbon Review
Barton 1792 Distillery
62.5% ABV/125 Proof (132.825 Barrel Proof)
NAS (~8YO), Filled on Feb. 12, 2012 and aged in Warehouse K
Eye: Dark amber, medium rims bleed droplet legs.
Nose: Very fruity, strong toasty note right behind it. Alcohol a bit stronger/more up front on the nose here. Vanilla builds on each sniff.
Palate: Fruity burn right up front coats the mouth. Tingle lingers, but leaves vanilla and caramel/burnt sugar in every corner of the mouth. Barrel char and berry sweetness complete the profile. Mouthfeel is astringent, viscous, and filling.
Finish: Drying, but fruity like berries and cream.
Overall: I think 1972 full proof is the first Barton product I’ve had, and I really like it. Each time I crack this one it gets better. Quintessential fruity bourbon, if a little more drying than expected.
