Michter’s 10 Year Old Bourbon (2025): Tasting Notes
Eye: Caramelized brown sugar. Thin-medium rims and legs, sanmall droplets.
Nose: Warm, comforting toasted bourbon profile. Roasted corn and a pleasantly strong malt character. Toasted cinnamon in a pan, melting brown sugar or brown sugar and butter creaming.
Palate: The cinnamon has a kick, reminding me just a little bit like amburana within reason. Remarkably full-bodied at this proof without being overly woody. Brown sugar with mild baking spices (excepting the cinnamon) rounds out. Mouthfeel is coating and mildly astringent, the front half or third of my tongue. Softens a bit on the chew without diluting.
Finish: Brown sugar taffy and a front-of-tongue heat from the baking spices. Medium-long length, a touch numbing up the palate and coating.
Overall: Sensations of brown sugar cookies being prepared for a fall bake sale. The cinnamon that threatens to overwhelm never does, remaining spicy but balanced. Amazing mouthfeel drinks like a 110-115 without any woodiness. Beautiful.
