Stagg Jr. Batch 9 Bourbon Review: Tasting Notes
Eye: Orange blossom honey. Thin rims, circlet of drops hang on.
Nose: Minerality, like spring water…this is odd. The proof is there for sure. Luden’s drops - artificial cherry. Strong flavors that also somehow smell watery.
Palate: Sweet and heat, lots of burnt caramel, peppercorn, and a touch of indiscernable fruitiness. Swiss Miss hot chocolate packets. Mouthfeel is syrupy and rich, brings the heat and a little oak, dried cherries open up with chocolate ebbing and flowing.
Finish: Stays pretty hot all the way to the finish. Chocolate coats the palate for quite awhile.
Overall: That nose is…odd. The palate and finish are full rich, not watery in the slightest. This mouthfeel is so damn good it makes you forget about any oddness before it. I can’t stop going back for more.
