Rebel Yell 10 YO
2016, Barrel 5083178
Lux Row Distillers Wheated Mashbill
10 YO (Distilled Sep. 2006), 50% ABV/100 Proof
Eye: Golden honey. Thick rims and quick, thin legs.
Nose: Great wheater nose. Dark grain and vanilla notes, hints of semisweet to dark chocolate. Touch of menthol and orange zest.
Palate: Drying, with baked chocolate. Brownies in particular. A good burn focused on the tip of the tongue, followed by dark fruits and a good sweet-heat balance. A little caramelized banana, too. Mouthfeel is astringent, moderately coating and medium-bodied.
Finish: Finish keeps the cocoa going if a little sweeter than before.
Overall: If you like chocolate, this is a bottle for your collection. Tons of brownies, dark dried fruits, and a pleasant balance of proof heat and sweetness.
